President Obama jumped in the polls following the Democratic National Convention.
According to the latest Gallup Poll, about 49 percent of voters support the president and 44 percent of voters are for Mitt Romney.
When the Democratic convention got under way last Tuesday, Obama was ahead of Romney by just one percentage point in the Gallup poll.
A separate CNN/ORC International poll released Monday shows a Democratic bump as well: 52 percent of voters supporting Obama compared to 46 percent backing Romney.
After the Republican National Convention, polls showed a one percent increase for Romney.
